Latest News

Today the second batch of 28 of the 60 singles competitors who have qualified from the four National trials, fifteen each from Scotland, wales, Enalgnd and Ireland, compete over a National style course for the fifteen places in Saturday's Supreme Championship. In addition, there are four more doubles runs during the lunchtime break. For details of the four National trials, click on the tabs at the very top of this page.

8am: Trialling has started for the day with a good run from Neil Gillon and Buoy. In contrast to yesterday, it is wet and miserable, with some mist, but the sheep are still running well.

9.20: Today's first scores are on the board. Neil Gillon's run equalled Bobby Dalziel's of yesterday, and John Maginn has joined the high scorers for Ireland.

11.20: Another high score for Scotland - Michael Shearer and Cap on 358. With two thirds of the 60 runs now complete, there is quite a gap between the ten handlers on 336 (listed below) and above and the next lower score of 317.

12.20: A new leader, and England's first entry on the leader board - Jim Cropper with Max on 370. Eirian Morgan and Spot have also posted a good score which should be good enough to go forward to tomorrow's Supreme Championship.

2.20: A few extra scores, but no changes at the top. The Wilkinson Sword Trophy has been presented to Will Cormack in recognition of his long standing and outstanding contribution to the Society over many years. The presentation was made by the Princess Royal, Patron of the Society. Will is no stranger to royalty, having being a neighbour of the Castle of Mey, the Queen Mother's Caithness residence.

2.40: The first title of the International goes to England - none of today's four Brace competitors managed to match yesterday's high score by Ricky Hutchinson with Wenndale Roy and Sweep, who are thus the 2011 International Brace Champions - congratulations! The singles are continuing - torrential rain during Robbie Welsh's run, but it is now dry.

3.10: Chloe Cropper has scored 323 with Roy, 14th place at the moment, and Robbie Welsh 319, 15th at present, but with the team captains and second placed handlers to go, it probably won't be quite enough.

4.10: And again, a new leader! Ian Brownlie and Mo on 376. Tim Longton and Bob are also in the running for a place tomorrow. Just Chris Toner and the four captains to go.

4.30: Bobby Dalziel and Joe are the first of the four captains to run - at 346 it looks as though Bobby will have two dogs in the final.

5.30: Ian Brownlie has won the qualifier - Kevin Evans and Greg join the leaders with 369 - third overall.
